Complete DeFi application for Bitcoin-backed stablecoin protocol. Led front-end implementation for swap, lending, staking, and governance features from launch.
The Protocol
Arkadiko is the cornerstone of Bitcoin DeFi on Stacks. As the Design Engineer since launch, I've been responsible for every pixel and interaction in the Arkadiko App—a comprehensive suite including decentralized swaps, lending vaults, staking pools, and DAO governance.
Building a Full-Scale DEX
The challenge wasn't just building one product, but a cohesive ecosystem. I had to ensure that every new feature, from complex collateralized debt positions to simple token swaps, felt part of a unified visual language.
Technical Architecture
- Feature Modularity: Built a Next.js architecture that allows for independent development of core features (Swap, Borrow, Stake, Liquidations) while sharing a robust internal component library.
- DeFi Guardrails: Engineered multi-step onboarding flows and validation logic that prevent user errors in high-stakes financial operations.
- Real-Time Data Layer: Integrated live data streams for pool statistics, collateralization ratios, and liquidation risks, surfacing deep smart-contract data into digestible UI.
The Design System
I developed a comprehensive design system focused on high-density financial data. Card-based layouts, a custom typography hierarchy (Montserrat/Kollektif), and a semantic color system (for risk and success states) ensure the app remains readable even during market volatility.
Impact
- Supported the protocol's growth from a stealth launch to over $100M+ in TVL.
- Created an interface that thousands of users rely on to interact with their Bitcoin-backed assets daily.
- Established Arkadiko as the benchmark for polished, high-performance UI in the Stacks ecosystem.
